Liquidation Price Calculator
For an isolated-margin, USDT-margined (linear) position. Calculated in your browser.
- Liquidation price
- Distance from entry
- Initial margin
Formula
An isolated position is liquidated when its margin plus unrealised profit or loss falls to the maintenance margin. With leverage L and maintenance margin rate m:
- Long: liquidation price = entry × (1 − 1/L) ÷ (1 − m)
- Short: liquidation price = entry × (1 + 1/L) ÷ (1 + m)
Worked examples
- Long at 50,000 with 10× and m = 0.5%: 50,000 × 0.9 ÷ 0.995 = 45,226.13 (9.55% below entry).
- Short at 50,000 with 10× and m = 0.5%: 50,000 × 1.1 ÷ 1.005 = 54,726.37 (9.45% above entry).
- Long at 3,000 with 2× and m = 0: 3,000 × 0.5 = 1,500.
Why your exchange may show a slightly different number
Each exchange uses its own maintenance margin tiers (the rate rises with position size) and often a fixed "maintenance amount" per tier. Liquidation is triggered by the mark price rather than the last traded price, and open fees, funding payments and any extra margin you add move the level as well. Treat this result as an estimate and check your exchange's position screen.
